Virtual cheating!
Cheating: everyone knows about it… I’ve been cheated at least once, and it hurts a lot!
The BBC has an interesting “programme” about cheating in Second Life: part I, part II, part III, part IV on youtube.
I’d prefer to avoid repeating what has been said in the videos, and give you my take on that.
Most emotions ultimately reach our psycological ego, rather than just our physical surface.
If you allow me to go to an extreme for a moment, think to rape, versus making love: comparable “physical” sensations, completely different psychological outcomes. That’s probably why victims of rape must face a long psychological rehabilitation, to overcome the shock.
Think about cheating: you are not “physically” hurt… it hurts that your beloved one preferred someone else.
So, this means that, if you live Second Life like a second life, and you pass enough hours around, you’ll feel bad, terribly bad, if someone cheats on you.
