The best metaverse? It’s a teen one!

Let’s go back to Second Life, metaverses, and so on!
Some smart and down-the-earth analysts agree that 2008 will be an important year for Metaverses (Metaverses are the virtual universes in which humans, through their Avatars and similar alter egos, spend time and interact with others). It will be a CONSOLIDATION year, but also the year in which teen Metaverses will definitively hit the road.
Webkinz is one of those worlds: it’s simple, it’s “teen”, it’s “cool”. It will surely attract millions of teens around the world.
I see it as a PROBLEM, because teens are quite defenseless against the power of media (adults are weak, yeah, but not completely defenseless).
I really hope that parents and friends around the globe will be able to prevent a heavy presence in those Metaverses… You go to school, you have friends, you can’t spend too much time in front of a monitor. I hope.
It’s the same problem with FaceBook, MySpace and similar.
Those websites are cool, yes, but they too often become a disturbing presence in the life of a normal person. Computers, internet, social networking sites, Metaverses, are all cool until they become an obsession, a drug.
I’m not “victorian”, but I really hope that things will not go out of control!
