Ok, second reaction: [...]<p>Post from: <a href="http://www.secondlifepros.com">Second Life Pros</a></p> ]]></description> <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Sex, sex, sex, the big engine of business, together with drugs and oil.<br /> Of course, I&#8217;m talking about the real world, but things are not so different in the world of Second Life.<br /> We can&#8217;t have REAL drugs in Second Life (yet), we can&#8217;t be interested in virtual oil (yet), but rest assured that <strong>sex is the main and big business in Second Life</strong>, and in any emerging virtual world.</p> <p><img src="http://b5media_b4.s3.amazonaws.com/69/files/2007/12/pony-girl.jpg" alt="pony-girl" /></p> <p>I took inspiration from this post about <a href="http://foo.secondlifeherald.com/slh/2007/12/do-not-post-bei.html" title="pony girls second life" target="_blank"><strong>sex clothing and tools for &#8220;ponygirls&#8221;</strong></a>, a strange &#8220;<strong>niche</strong>&#8221; of the sex market.</p> <p><strong>First reaction</strong> was: aww, this sounds like strange and rotten sex material.</p> <p>Ok, <strong>second reaction</strong>: what is sex from a business point of view (if you don&#8217;t directly cash it in)?<br /> I think that sex in Second Life, even the strangest and more uncommon forms of sex behaviours and materials, <strong>IS very good for any business</strong>, because:</p> <p>A) People interested in that kind of sex become <strong>Second Life users</strong>;<br /> B) Some businesses get money, and they probably try to<strong> invest it again in Second Life</strong>, thus generating a high demand for skilled people;<br /> C) If the sex business hires skilled people, there is a shortage of good technician, and so SL <strong>wages go up steadily</strong>, allowing it to become an interesting source of income;<br /> D) When there is a decent wage in something, lots of people come, <strong>working or entepreneuring</strong>, and this effect cumulates with the increased number of users.</p> <p>If, for instance, Linden Lab decides to ban sex from Second Life, I swear you that Second Life is dead that very same day.</p> <p>We like it or not, bu <strong>we have to deal with any human &#8220;deviation&#8221; from the norm, both in Second Life and in Real Life</strong>; I personally don&#8217;t like &#8220;too eccentric&#8221; things, but I usually try to respect everyone, just because many normal people have usually one or more of such eccentric deviation.
