]]> I’m in the SLED Mailing List since almost a year, and I love it.
Now they have a new blog, and I’m sure it deserves some good visits, folks, because education is and will be one of the strongest sectors in Second Life.

That Mailing List is also very useful to get in contact with the educators around the world, share experiences, and so on. If you’re in education, you should enroll :-)

]]> I agree with many others: Second Life is good, but it could be better when you talk about education and e-learning (or v-learning, short for Virtual Learning).

Sun Microsystems, yes that big company that you surely know because you know Java and OpenOffice, is building a virtual environment for online education, based on Project Darkstar on the server, called Sun MPK20 Virtual Workplace environment.

This is a great leap forward, compared to what Second Life has to offer, and can also ensure that offering online education is not too time-consuming (like SL, most of the times).

We’ll wait and see if MPK20 will take momentum. In the meanwhile, enjoy this two videos about MPK20.

Oh, I forgot to mention one of the most important thing: the entire software architecture is OPEN SOURCE. Great move, Sun!
