Mayor of Assisi opens the doors in Second Life

Do you know Assisi? It’s a small roman/medieval town in middle Italy, right between Florence and Rome. Sat on a hill (”asisium” in latin means “sat down”), it was the home of Francesco Bernardone, who later in XIII century become Saint Francis of Assisi. They built a huge church and convent to celebrate him, the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi.
It’s my home town, and I love franciscan principles, even though I’m not a fervent catholic :-)

The mayor of Assisi, Engineer Claudio Ricci, is a bright intellectual, with a taste and much knowledge on architecture, tourism and marketing.
Tomorrow (26th january), at the Conference “Point of views in Second Life” held at the Domus Pacis, near Assisi, the mayor will show his new initiative in Second Life: a very ostensible avatar, ClaudioRicci Republic, and a perfect reproduction of his office in Assisi, where he’ll listen to citizens and tourists twice a month.

The first meeting is thursday, february 7th, at 5pm italian time.

This is the first initiative of this kind (as far as I know), and I hope it will be a successful one!
