Iowa State University: e-commerce strategy class in Second Life
Thanks to Jean, I discovered this article about an e-commerce strategy class at the Iowa State University, which is using Second Life to explore new business opportunities.
The article is somewhat introductory, but it shows how people are reacting to a new opportunity, which will surely become more and more important in the years to come.
Do you have any experience to share with us?

This concept has been coming into fruition for a while. For the last two semesters I’ve been helping my alma mater, Babson College, introduce Second Life to their MBA students. The first course was geared towards exploring the environment and creating real-world concepts that serviced the world externally and internally. This current semester is focusing on setting up a virtual incubator for budding entrepreneurs who are from the grad and undergrad program. I also teach a course on entrepreneurship at Boston University with a focus on leveraging emerging technologies, including virtual worlds, to serve as the primary focus of their business model or as a strategy to integrate into their sales/marketing model. After a few years none of this is new, but to my students it is and that’s what continues to fascinate me, because every semester a fresh new set of ideas rolls in and goes into action.
