How to earn some little money in SL, part 3

by sbrunozzi on October 4th, 2007

Remember we talked about rules to earn some little money in SL?
Rule #1: making money in SL is NOT easy.
Rule #2: use your time to learn SL well.

Today I’ll tell you something about:
Rule #3: focus on businesses that can take immediate advantage from SL.

I’ll take inspiration from a real life scenario.
I’m the owner of a place in Second Life, the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi. Of course, I believe all of you already know Saint Francis of Assisi, or are aware that in Assisi (my birth place) we have a wonderful Basilica of Saint Francis.
Of course, running this place is expensive (people, and monthly rent for the island).
I applied Rule #3: I have a friend, a photographer, who already has a website, but would like to increment his popularity and sell some photos.

I proposed him to organize a photography event, with pictures that he took during the earthquake that knocked down Assisi (and the region) in 1997. He agreed.
I spent about 400 euros for the people involved, and for my time. The event was a success, and I got the following advantages:
1. the traffic of Assisi went up;
2. I earned 600 euros (200 is the net income of course);
3. newspapers wrote about the event.
4. Two other photographers asked for a similar event.
5. I now have some “objects” that I can reuse in following events, thus decreasing the cost (it would be about 300 euros instead of 400).

This is great! I focused on businesses that can take immediate advantage of SL, and offered them a chance. It worked.
Now, your turn: what do you think about this? Write down some ideas and apply them!

Ah, by the way: the Photographer is Giovanni Galardini.

Remember:
Rule #3: focus on businesses that can take immediate advantage from SL.
