Google and Second Life will prevail in 2008?
I needed some lines before catching that it was ironic: yet, this article about strange and humoristic predictions for each month of 2008 is interesting.
Second Life and Politics come into mind.
Think about it for a moment. Second Life is becoming a NATION: its own currency, thousands of people getting their salary INSIDE Second Life, hundreds of newspapers writing about it… Wait a moment: it’s still Linden Lab’s creature, but it could become a common platform for a virtual world nation sooner or later.
Many people in the past few months suggested that Second Life must open to third parties. Of course, Linden Lab can’t accept without a business model for an Open Second Life, but it can in the future, if it’s able to find it.
I’m sure that THERE IS A BUSINESS MODEL for an Open Second Life. As soon as Linden Lab can find it, Second Life will open up, thousands of companies will have their interconnected grids, and Second Life will become a huge virtual world, in which, sooner or later, a form of POLITICS will take place. I’m not talking about REAL politics in Second Life: I’m talking about politics IN Second Life.
