How I got hired by Amazon.com

How I got hired by Amazon.com

This is the story of how I got hired by Amazon.com, starting from the Second Life’s Virtual Job Fair in Luxembourg.
It’s a long one, but worth reading!

This is my final conclusion, about Second Life:
Second Life had an interesting role on all this: being updated and experienced with the latest technologies brings a competitive advantage in some way or another. In my case, Second Life helped me in being the coolest candidate, among the few being able to use Second Life and not scared of a virtual job fair.
Such a good start gave me the energy to focus on unexpected …read more

A new job at Amazon.com!

A new job at Amazon.com!

A little off-topic here, but tomorrow I’m flying to Seattle to start my new job at Amazon.com : I’ll be their Amazon Web Services (AWS) Evangelist for Europe!
Do I need to recall that everything started in Second Life?
Wish me good luck! Be back to you in a couple of days

Why Second Life?

Why Second Life?

“Does a Second Life avatar need a kitchen if it never eats, or a roof over its head if it never rains? If you can be anything and build anything, how does an avatar find happiness?”

As good as usual, the Second Life section of Reuters talks about the new “Molotov Alva and His Search for His creator: a Second Life Odyssey“.
It seems a futile question, but… According to Ray Kurtzweil and his books, it may be rather important in a near future.
My take: virtual worlds will become predominant in 25 to 35 years, and people will melt with artificial intelligence …read more

Virtual visit: Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi

(you can watch the VIDEO OF THE VIRTUAL VISIT OF THE BASILICA)
Last friday, I had the pleasure to host Andrea Benassi (from Florence, Italy), and five students from New York City, in my “masterpiece”, the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi (here the SLURL, if you know what a SLURL is).
We were in company of Costanza, an italian official tour guide, which usually accompanies real people in the real Basilica, and this time had the opportunity and pleasure to do so in Second Life.

You can watch the VIDEO OF THE VIRTUAL VISIT OF THE BASILICA, and take a look at …read more

Trip to Berlin (Real Life)

Trip to Berlin (Real Life)

I’m going to Berlin for a short trip, until 10th december. This is a nice picture of Alexander Platz, found here:

In the next days you’ll find some “posthumous” posts, I’ll probably not be able to comment (I sometimes need few days without Internet, or with very low connection time), but I hope you’ll enjoy the posts.
See you soon my friends!

Real Life Holiday in Abruzzo, Italy

Real Life Holiday in Abruzzo, Italy

I’m leaving for three days, a short Real Life Holiday in Abruzzo, a nice region in middle Italy. I’ll be staying in Civitella Alfedena.

The fun thing is that in a near future, holidays will be planned, and partly enjoyed, thanks to Virtual Realities, such as Second Life.
That moment is yet to come, but I’m pretty sure we’ll have to wait no more than 3 or 4 years. Innovation is so fast because it is based on previous innovations, like Ray Kurzweil said.
In the meanwhile, my happy readers, take a quick look at this: Second Life satisfaction.
