Exit interview of Philip Rosedale
Happy Easter, dear readers!!
Just a quick note: you may be interested in reading the exit interview of Philip Rosedale, ex-CEO of Linden Lab.
Long, but worth reading.
I’ll get back to my fantastic italian dinner here… I love Easter, it has strong “religious” meanings (for believers, and for non-believers like me), but I also love it for the food… damn it’s good!!

Philip Rosedale steps down as CEO
As usually happens (see Google, for example), the founder needs an experienced CEO.
Philip Rosedale (below I’m at Linden Lab’s HQ in last july 2007) is stepping down as CEO of Linden Lab.
Here’s what he has to say about that:
We’ve decided to search for a new CEO, and I wanted to briefly talk to everyone here about the reasons for that decision.
I feel that the most important contributions I have made and will continue to make to Second Life are related to building both the product and the company through my direct contributions to vision, strategy, and design. As we grow, …read more

Update on search ranking
One of the WORST things in Second Life is search ranking: it reminds me of the early web, in which you could win the first page on Altavista simply adding the same keyword a hundred times. Instead of spending hundreds of euros (well, hundreds of thousands of italian “Lire”) in Microsoft manuals, I had all this stuff for free (and lots of people on IRC ready to help …read more
January 2008 economic metrics, by Meta Linden
Meta Linden (you probably didn’t know that every Linden Lab employee has an avatar with “Linden” as last name) just published the key economic metrics of Second Life for January 2008.
He says that:
“Concurrency, usage hours, and total resident-owned land continue to grow at a steady pace, while our count of Premium users dropped slightly again in January as we work on designing a better Premium offering.”
In my opinion, the growth will never stop; we still need to focus on clearer business models, and some tech improvements (the scripting language, the user interface, etc).
What do you think? What does Second Life …read more

Second Life Economy? STRONG!
This is a little bit surprising, but it seems that Second Life Economy is strong, and growing day by day.
On this post, the official Second Life Blog outlines some interesting informations about SL Economy.
Both economic growth (in terms of Linden Dollars exchanged) and users went way up in the 4th quarter of 2007. Good news!
