Inworld collaboration? SL’s killer app

Inworld collaboration? SL’s killer app

[news source]
According to the new Linden Lab’s CEO Mark Kingdon (his first week’s blog post is here), Inworld collaboration is going to be the killer application for Second Life.
Hmm… I can agree, of course, but it seems to me that Second Life has a lot left to do, to provide a GOOD interface and environment suitable for business purposes.
And, by the way… What about their data center? Are you still going to turn down the Grid almost once a week? Please, man.

50 tips for a learning space in Second Life

50 tips for a learning space in Second Life

Thank to Fiona, I discovered this interesting post about 50 tips and tips to create a learning space in Second Life. Worth reading.
I strongly believe that Second Life, and Virtual Worlds, have a great potential in the learning sphere; a three-dimensional space is (potentially) much better than ANY web-based learning tool, provided it’s designed with students in mind.
Currently, Second Life is a little bit too complicated to CREATE, and RECEIVE learning contents. As soon as the interface and the creation tools improve, learning will definitively get off the ground.

How I got hired by Amazon.com

How I got hired by Amazon.com

This is the story of how I got hired by Amazon.com, starting from the Second Life’s Virtual Job Fair in Luxembourg.
It’s a long one, but worth reading!

This is my final conclusion, about Second Life:
Second Life had an interesting role on all this: being updated and experienced with the latest technologies brings a competitive advantage in some way or another. In my case, Second Life helped me in being the coolest candidate, among the few being able to use Second Life and not scared of a virtual job fair.
Such a good start gave me the energy to focus on unexpected …read more

Marostica in Second Life!

Marostica in Second Life!

Marostica is a small village in Veneto, the region leaded by Venezia, in which, since year 1454, the main square hosts a wonderful chess game, with real human figures, every even year.
What about the origin of this chess game? Two knights, Rinaldo d’Angarano and Vieri da Vallonara, both in love with Lionora, challenge each other in duel to decide which one can win her love.
The prince, father of Lionora, denied the match, and offered instead a chess game as a mean to clear the challenge. To make it better and nicer, the prince decided to invite the people, warriors and …read more

Playboy coming to Second Life!

Playboy coming to Second Life!

Breaking news: Playboy is coming to Second Life!
Christie Hefner is saying:
“We believe that the potential of online is much greater than the performance we’ve seen in the last several years”

I agree, Christie: the potential revenue from virtual worlds is much bigger than what you ever saw in the past.
See Love + Sex with Robots for further details about what sex, virtual worlds and robots will become in the near future.
However, let me add that Playboy quite always worked in this “dangerous” business (the erotic business) with taste and caution.
Keep doing this. Virtual worlds are far more dangerous, for people, …read more
