Fashion, and rights

Read this article about fashion, and how real world brands are behaving in Second Life, both looking at their initiatives, and the relations with other people (other fashion designers, mainly).
The problem, in my opinion, is the law.

second life fashion

Fashion is perfect for Second Life: fashion is not just about the product and the quality, it is mostly based on design, and exteriority. This means that many people are investing, or playing, with fashion design in Second Life.
Sometimes it happens that SL designers copy real world models and clothings. Sometimes it happens that they have frictions or lawsuits against fashion companies.
The article tells a lot.

In my opinion, Second Life MUST assure about which laws to apply, and how Linden Lab behaves in cases of copyright infringements, and such.
Otherwise, we’ll have another far west (and it’s not the 19th century, it’s the third millennium).
What do you think about it?

Lindens need to be responsible enough to advise its patrons as to what is legal and what is definitely not. Alot of times you don’t find out until its too late. Its simply good for business to alert creators of what boundaries they have to work within. -I think : ) -
