Again, recruiting in Second Life!

Again, recruiting in Second Life!

Recruiting is soooo important nowadays: if a company (or a government agency) is able to pick the right guy or girl, it’s a big advantage.
No surprise that there is another report about a recruiting initiative in Second Life by SLAgency:
“TheSLAgency launches an innovative job recruitment program for a government client in Second Life. Job hunters will interact with a unique career recruitment experience in Second Life as potential firefighters, medical technicians and others can virtually hone their skills before interviewing for Public Service jobs.”

Virtual Business Expo on Second Life, April 27th 2008

Tomorrow (sunday, april 27th) at 10am PDT, Ben Lorica (O’Reilly) will present the Virtual Worlds Business Guide by O’Reilly and discuss their recent findings.

The conference is just one among many at the Virtual Business Expo, taking place in Second Life (or “inworld”, as we use to say) for four days, with the following topics: virtual workplace, virtual education, virtual marketing, virtual commerce.
It seems a very interesting event, even if on the website they forgot to mention dates and times!

I’ll probably pass by for a couple of hours, to see what’s going on, and I’ll try not to miss …read more

One year ago, Linden Lab activated my nice Assisi Island, on which we built the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi.
In one year, we had about a dozen outages, and some bandwidth issues, but in general the service has been quite good.
It seems AGES, but it’s just one year!

Ignore Second Life at your own peril!

Ignore Second Life at your own peril!

http://www.virtualworldsnews.com/2008/04/mckinsey-compan.html

McKinsey & Company, a famous management consulting firm (wikipedia), is deeply involved in virtual worlds, and Second Life.
From a news source:
An unnamed senior consultant told the Times Online that companies “absolutely”  should be “experimenting in virtual worlds” to attract customers under 30 and were “ignoring them at their peril.”
I agree: virtual worlds, and social networks, will be HUGE, and companies can’t ignore them NOW. Investing in them only when they become the most important thing in the world will be too late.
What’s your take on this?
