My virtual model
Fashion in Second Life is, and will be, a huge hit.
In Real Life, I give fashion some importance, but not too much. I never spend 300 euros on a pair of shoes, or a thousand and beyond for a suit.
However, there is an important fragment of the population, and thus of the market, that gives much importance and budget to fashion, and clothing.
This is the reason why fashion brands and industries heavily invested in advertising, in new media, and are now one of the main investors inside Second Life.
My Virtual Model is a concrete, and in my opinion very good, example of how you can try to make business on virtual things.
Basically, you can create a virtual model of yourself, and then try products from famous real brands. It is still in its infancy, it is primitive, but in a few years almost EVERYBODY will shop like this (not only, but too).
It will also lead to a nicer space and market for innovative small firms and companies. This is sane, this is real and good capitalism. Of course, lots of bad things can happen… I’m just trying to figure out what will probably happen. I see a bright future in this.
