Sun educates in virtual worlds: MPK20
I agree with many others: Second Life is good, but it could be better when you talk about education and e-learning (or v-learning, short for Virtual Learning).
Sun Microsystems, yes that big company that you surely know because you know Java and OpenOffice, is building a virtual environment for online education, based on Project Darkstar on the server, called Sun MPK20 Virtual Workplace environment.

This is a great leap forward, compared to what Second Life has to offer, and can also ensure that offering online education is not too time-consuming (like SL, most of the times).
We’ll wait and see if MPK20 will take momentum. In the meanwhile, enjoy this two videos about MPK20.

Oh, I forgot to mention one of the most important thing: the entire software architecture is OPEN SOURCE. Great move, Sun!

And now, Linden Lab, what’s your answer?
See you soon, my dear readers!
