This is a BIG, BIG question. And my early guess is wrong.
According to TechCrunch, Catamount Ventures sold 10% of Linden Lab stakes for something around HALF A BILLION DOLLARS.
This means that Second Life (together with Linden Lab) could be valued at 5 billions USD.
I think this is a bit too overpriced, but I’m sure that 2-3 billions are a solid real value for it.
Consider users (10 millions subscribers, but about 1,5 million active users), the value of objects created in Second Life, the hype, the investments around it. Yes, it’s BILLIONS OF DOLLARS anyway.

Italy is Italy, after all, “a country of poets, saints and sailors”!
That’s why I’m not surprised to see that “Second Italy” is a comedy show, led by a famous, hilarious (but sometimes too dirty) tuscanian comedian, Paolo Hendel.
But, wait a minute, why “Second” ? Just to get some newspaper attention (because everything SL-related still gets more attention), or because there is something really related to Second Life?
You guessed it. What a pity. This means that SL in Italy is not yet ready for real business, after all.

I’m leaving for three days, a short Real Life Holiday in Abruzzo, a nice region in middle Italy. I’ll be staying in Civitella Alfedena.

The fun thing is that in a near future, holidays will be planned, and partly enjoyed, thanks to Virtual Realities, such as Second Life.
That moment is yet to come, but I’m pretty sure we’ll have to wait no more than 3 or 4 years. Innovation is so fast because it is based on previous innovations, like Ray Kurzweil said.
